Application of a Large-scale Musculoskeletal Upper Limb Model: Analysis of Forces at the Glenohumeral Joint
نویسندگان
چکیده
There is currently little knowledge of the loading patterns of the bones and muscles of the shoulder girdle. Despite the existence of complex upper limb models, they have only recently been used to study the loading of the joints during tasks of daily living. Studying activities of daily living is vital in understanding the range of kinematics, load bearing and stability required of the upper limb in order to assess, rehabilitate and repair the variety of injuries and disabilities which can effect function.

Linking Wheelchair Kinetics to G lenohumeral Joint D
The aim of the study was to investigate if pushrim kinetics could be used as markers of glenohumeral joint demand during manual wheelchair accessibility activities; demonstrating a method of biomechanical analysis that could be used away from the laboratory. Propulsion forces, trunk and upper limb kinematics and surface electromyography were recorded during four propulsion tasks (level, 2.5% cr...
متن کاملShoulder muscle forces during driving: Sudden steering can load the rotator cuff beyond its repair limit
BACKGROUND Driving is one of the most common everyday tasks and the rotator cuff muscles are the primary shoulder stabilisers. Muscle forces during driving are not currently known, yet knowledge of these would influence important clinical advice such as return to activities after surgery. The aim of this study is to quantify shoulder and rotator cuff muscle forces during driving in different po...
متن کاملThe Effects of Negative Heel Rocker Shoes on the Moment and the Contact Forces Applied on Lower Limb Joints of Diabetic Patients During Walking
Purpose: The negative heel rocker shoes help reduce the plantar pressure in patients with diabetes, but their effects on the other lower limb joints are unknown. Accordingly, the current study aimed at evaluating the effect of negative heel rocker shoes on the moment and the contact forces applied on lower limb joints of diabetic patients while walking. Methods: A total of 10 patients with dia...
متن کاملA three-dimensional model of the shoulder and elbow
A three-dimensional musculoskeletal model of the shoulder and elbow has been developed, in order to increase the functional insight in the mechanical behavior of the shoulder and neural control issues, to assist in diagnosis and treatment of shoulder disorders, and to estimate the load on morphological structures for prevention of injuries. In the model all bones and joints of the upper extremi...
متن کاملEvaluation of Pediatric Manual Wheelchair Mobility Using Advanced Biomechanical Methods
There is minimal research of upper extremity joint dynamics during pediatric wheelchair mobility despite the large number of children using manual wheelchairs. Special concern arises with the pediatric population, particularly in regard to the longer duration of wheelchair use, joint integrity, participation and community integration, and transitional care into adulthood. This study seeks to pr...
